Sappho and Old Greek

Sappho was the greatest of ancient Greek lyric poets. The Greeks and Romans both attest to this fact. Her poetry has received a very mixed reception as of late on account of the strange ways in which she has been repackaged for post-modern society. This article is a detailed philological investigation of poem #1 from the extant Greek fragments. There is also a critical commentary on the biblical Greek linguistic connections to Old Greek--as far back as the seventh century before Christ.
