This paper offers a variety of ways for looking at biblical backgrounds and allows the reader to use these techniques as he or she seeks to comprehend what it is that is occurring in the hearts and minds of the people of scripture. Each time we read a biblical story, a wide range of ideas are being flung in our direction and to properly sift all the material requires much wisdom and the help of the Holy Spirit.
